Dr. Halil Avci will present: "Past, Present, and Future of Nuclear Energy in the United States and Abroad."

Dr. Avci's presentation will provide an overview of the history, current status and potential future of nuclear energy in the United States and around the world. The topics discussed will include a quick review of nuclear energy basics, historical data, the kinds of nuclear reactors that are used today and are being evaluated for future use, ancillary facilities and infrastructure needed for utilization of nuclear energy, and finally some thoughts on the future of nuclear energy domestically and globally.
Halil Avci attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1970s and obtained B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, all in Nuclear Engineering. He has over 40 years of technical, managerial, teaching, and consulting experience in areas related to nuclear energy, environmental impact assessment, energy and the environment, nuclear reactor licensing, and radioactive waste management. He currently consults part time as an external expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He has lectured at many IAEA sponsored courses/workshops for representatives from developing countries, and taught at universities in the United States, Turkey, Tanzania, and Indonesia. Dr. Avci retired from Argonne National Laboratory, a prominent research and development institution owned by the United States Department of Energy, and located in South-West suburbs of Chicago.

- All registrations and payments for events must be made online with a credit card. We will not be able to accept checks as payment for event registrations.
- Registrations are confirmed only if payment is received before the registration deadline.
- Only those with confirmed registrations will be admitted to a program.

Cancelation and refund policy:
- All cancellations must be in writing to info@mcfr.info.
- Cancellations received before registration closes will be fully refunded.
- We will not be able to refund registration fees for cancellations received after registration closes.
